Venus in the Underworld

Between August 6 and 21st, 2023 Venus will be travelling in the underworld in her inferior conjunction phase. Every 500 days or so the Divine Feminine archetype dives between Earth and the Sun in the most intense arc of her cycle. She leaves as the evening star, disappearing from view, and returns bright in her place at the dawn. This journey was recorded and sung to by the Sumerians as the story of Innana and her journey to the underworld. It was considered a powerful time of healing for the Femminine where she attended to her inner work and reintegrated herself anew for the cycle that lay ahead.

This year she is retrograde in Leo as she passes under; reflective, meditative and in the perfect place to heal where there has been power-over in the world, betrayal, exploitation, control, conquest and violence. Where she has become disconnected from her Self and her community, and where she seeks to return to right relationship with herself, with others, and with the Great Mother herself.

This is an individual calling with a collective impact and I invite you to work consciously with this energy, to journal daily and practice this process as often as you can so that you, like Venus, can encounter your lost parts and reclaim the Heart that you might be the love and courage the world so badly needs.
