Harnessing the Power of Wind

The Force of the Wood Element in Spring

The climate associated with the season of Spring and the Element of WOOD is wind, the elemental energy that forces bends, clears and strengthens our roots.

Wind and the Wood Element in Spring

Wind blows over vast periods of time and sculpts the land in a way that can only be measured in centuries. It is a persistent influence, steadily applied that brings about great and lasting change.

Mostly described in the classics as 'gentle and obedient', wind laughingly calls us to be patient as it scatters the papers on the desk through an open window, or makes a mockery of the napkins on the outdoor table. Equally, its rage can call us to bend, yield, and hand over everything that we grip…even when we don't want to. It cleaves a forest, winding between the trees, stripping all that is dead wood along the way.

Benevolent Wind: Clearing Stagnation and Promoting Change

However, whether roaring or genial, wind is benevolent and seeks only to bring movement and change where there has been stagnation, correcting nature, and wrestling us back to the right and proper pathway for the time.

Embracing Wind’s Lessons in Spring

Try opening to the winds of Spring this season, let them clear your inner spaces, stir your inertia, and challenge you to be a more kind, forgiving version of yourself and allow wind to sculpt and shift in accord with the Tao.
